This piece was written soon after his breakup with "the Panther" and stands as an almost self-assurance of his survivability. A whistling past the romantic graveyard, of sorts.
I am
I can't pretend to be some legend of old,
bold and taken with a dream....
walking an infinite road for country or queen.
I am just a man.
Perhaps amplified by my love for you.
purified of many doubts.
clarified to shout your name above all
in time.
in time,
in time with the music of my blood
that you awoke as I stood on the edge
of the infinite cliffs
and dared fate to push.
you speak of courage.
I speak of purpose.
for beyond the black and the crimson and the gold.
I am my own panther.
and I will wait for worthy prey.
even until the sun sets again
beyond the ocean of tranquility.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
