Curious me, I once asked the poet about the title to this poem. I figured it had to do with th shared feasting on the soul of lovers' in perfect symbiosis. Foolish me. It's a poem about oral sex. I'm not making this up. Wow, he gets subtle sometimes, doesn't he? As I am not familiar with the full body (laughing) of poetry on the topic of cunnilingus, I decided to ask no further questions.
soft repast
eyes tightly held as barriers against the light...
shutting out a smile drawing near enough
to touch, in soft repast,
and draw sustenance from a dance
drawing nearer and nearer
clearer and clearer
dearer and dearer
to an execution of a perfect pirouette
when hands touch faces
and the grace of a kiss
becomes metaphor for a touch
much deeper than a dream.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
