I have never seen you cry

0 observations

From his bestselling book, 101 GREAT LOVE POEMS, comes this gem, simple, gentle and so telling. He has politely, but firmly, declined to discuss the context in which this was written, or to name the muse.

I have never seen you cry

I have never seen your sadness shared,
you hid it from me in shame, despaired,
when parting crushed your heart, and dared
to darken yet your victory.

I wish to be there when you weep,
to guard your dreams, when dare you sleep,
and take from you the truth so deep
it strengthens and sustains me.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
