Battlecry

0 observations

When originally posted, in 2004, at AuthorsDen.com, the poet annotated this with the quote from "Dangerous Liaisons" that "After all, you don't applaud the tenor for clearing his throat". I believe the implication was that this was an effortless feat (those damn preconscious creative types, birthing their works in pain and stress, but not sweat).

Battlecry

Burn the bridges.
Ridges I’ve walked
talked and spoke
nothing.
The sands run shallow
and the tallow
pools end
in Delphic puddles.
Riddles in the middle
of a sentence
writ and passed.
Cast idols,
idle.
The bridle
of the bridal notion
an ocean
of emotion
that overwhelms
the helms and helmets
of the ships
and the armies
of the damned.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
