backstab

0 observations

This work arose out of a bizarre incident where a former lover, seemingly without cause, sent word through channels that he was never to speak to or of her again. He had only spoken to her when she had called and only spoken of her in reverence and respect. This is not the first time a former lover had suddenly requested that she be absented from his histories, usually because it would dispel an illusion she was wishing to maintain. This one was particularly painful owing to the years of dedication and sacrifice she had requested and received of him. While respecting her privacy, he was also deeply offended by the implied threat in the tone of the communique, and thus he wrote this piece.

backstab

send not against me proxies, doxie,
of what are you afraid?
have I not your devils caught
and all your dragons slayed?

do you fear as I draw near
I might expect a kiss?
judge me not if you've forgot
the role I played in this.

have all your lies now taken form
and seem to you now real?
are you mad, to play me cad
when I sheltered you in zeal?

send not against me proxies, doxie,
of what are you afraid?
have I not your devils caught
and all your dragons slayed?

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
