Into the Arena

0 observations

A little tortured and self-referencing, but if you pick up the subtle references to various muses and incidents, I've seen books with less raw information in them.

Into the Arena

moving on to the arena
moving out before the crowd
strutting like a bloodied matador
as the cheers, they echo loud.

feeling drumbeats in the silence
smelling jasmine on your breath
knowing all that is not perfect
shall be cursed the coward's death.

making magic on a mattress
and illusions in the night
to awake the snake of sentience
by the amomancer's bite.

barefoot rhythms on the ashes
of the burnt and broken stones
that are thrown throughout the ruins
of the castles made of bones.

when arose an abstract hero
patchworked pieces of design
wings of leather and of feather
both the fallen and divine.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
