Is it anti-war? Yes, this Memorial Day poem is anti-war. But he does not consider that an insult to our brave men and women who have served and died. Soldiers do not start wars, they are the pawns of those who do. He has lost friends and family to both rational and irrational conflicts, as have we all.
Our Children Lie at Arlington
grey stone for colours, washed by rain,
to cleanse away a questioned stain
of politician's mad refrain.
our children lie in Arlington.
slain by foe or friendly fire
when serving out Homeland's desire
that they may future truths inspire.
our children lie at Arlington.
martyrs to both right and might
in dawn's first light and darkest night
they did not question leader's fight.
our children lie at Arlington

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
