unintended readings

0 observations

A few years ago the poet wrote this very popular poem about how we read people like books, sometimes discovering (or interpreting) things we were not looking for or expecting to find.

unintended readings

How brazenly we play each card
to match our wits and strategy.
As if we held the fates' on leash
to lead or heel as was our will.

Eyes that glimmer, sounds unbound
that slip away without our choice.
Gestures, and the subtext intimate,
that testify against our voice.

We are scattered pages of many books,
laid open to prying eyes our passages,
footnotes and citations often Greek, op.cit,,
praying for a little enlightened literacy.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
