and have I slain the Jabberwock?

0 observations

I like this work, inspired of course by the poem by the author of "Alice in Wonderland"...

and have I slain the Jabberwock?

An honest, earnest kiss I miss,
if e'er I have known
the truth of sooth in lips that touch
pure waters, yet unknown.

Have I but sailed on journeys failed
by choosing poor the ride,
or am I damned and slammed to stone
by hubris still inside?

Shall I one day look back and say
I never knew true love?
Shall I be the effigy,
the man who wears the gloves?

Or am I just an hungry thing
that has forgot last feed?
Am I now taking what I want
as barter for the need?

And I have I slain the Jabberwock?
Or have I slept the night,
awaking naught to moments caught
like faeries at twilight?

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
