This rather extraordinary piece appears in the poet's book from last year Ronin in the Temple of Aphrodite, which you should have a copy of...if not, go to your favourite online bookseller and order one (or through the City of Legends Store). It sort of caps his "faceted sphere" concept quite nicely.
the sphere is faceted
where we love
is a different place.
for there is a surface to the sky
that bends the light a colour
I have not seen anywhere else,
and we lay like children in the sun,
counting clouds that shift shapes shamelessly
for our amusement.
as we do, for theirs.
and you are fair.
fairer than any of the women
I never met in this world
and yet in our places
other times
other intersections of light and life
it is they I caress
late at night
to awaken
for passions that never fade
and that make for splendid words
on pages you cherish
all the days of your life.
your lips are soft and full
and taste of opportunities
I did not lose
this time and place.
your arms are mine
and I surrender all my dreams
to your embrace, facing you
when we merge into the
essence of our affections
and our hungers
and I seek your soul
in corners you give me to explore
with grace and gratitude
for the ravenous gentility
of my quests.
and in this sphere, this here
and now,
you will have me in your dreams
when you least expect my appearance,
wedged between memory and fantasy,
sold into your faceted sphere
for a few words
you cannot precisely recall.
but are glad for.
as am I.

the sphere is faceted

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
