There are many theories about this poem, and the poet just smiles that beatific mystery smile when asked who it is about and if it reflects a real passion or an abstract vision of a love that might have been but never was.
so
so.
looking for a little truth
a little warmth
still hiding in the ashes
as the timestream
trashes the childhood dreams
of glass palaces and knights
astride great stallions.
a subtle reflection on legends
we cut on a lathe of prayers
to shape the wood of life
to a likeness of your legs,
the night they twined about me
to hold me for a moment.
for a lifetime.
as your voice denied your soul
(three times and then some.)
but the sacrament rolled on
into the calling darkness.
the falling starkness.
when your heart opened
like a flower of
night blooming jasmine,
to steal
what little resistance remained.
so.
can I change your life,
as you have changed mine?
forever.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
