asparagus

0 observations

Another recent work to the Southern Siren, also now known as the Diamondheart, this one takes a metaphor for a vegetable and plays with it a bit. The poet getting playful? What next? Oh, right...okay, you two, carry on. They're so cute...maybe this one is the one?

asparagus

I do not barter love
but prepare it
and place it
before you
like steamed asparagus
with a sweet butter sauce
trusting you like the scent
and taste
and memory
and presentation
and that
the phallic symbolism
of the shape
is not lost on you
for future purposes
I have in mind

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
