For those of you less hue-literate or lacking the full university credit for "Color Metaphor 101", "aubergine" is both the fruit of the eggplant as well as the deep purple color of the fruit. This is a brand new work, dedicated to the Siren.
aubergine
my passion for you is aubergine,
deep and dark and full of the blood
that floods my heart and limbs
when I look upon you, naked,
stretched out as evidence
that God must have been a man;
Rodin with flesh and bone,
sculpting your body as a temple
to an unnamed goddess,
that she may find a home
and draw near her worshippers
and at least one poet,
his heart aubergine with awe
and lust and the desire
to consecrate and defile
with every thrust and breath
and word
left in his body.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
