The Diamondheart Cycle: Diamondheart

0 observations

The prince of poets unveiled his new cycle yesterday, and I am impressed.

Dedicated "to my lover" which means anyone who has been following the saga of the Southern Siren now knows her by a new name. A "perfect" cycle of seven poems, this one has to be taken seriously, as it has been a while since he invoked his cycle form.

The Diamondheart Cycle: diamondheart

in heat and pressure the black coal crystallizes
to perfect gems of clarity and the insincerity
of the impurities of lost loves become powder
in the press of life, where mettle is tested
and illusions are bested by the unimaginable heat
of my passion for you
my respect for you
my hunger for you
my affection for you;
an insurrection against toppled totems.
lay your hands on mine and guide me
to strike perfect facets
as we chip away the irrelevancies
and find the heart in the stone of beauty.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
