cat of a different mind

it is nice to find
there are cats of a different mind
not those who hunt to quit
once the prey is caught
leaving it to its own devices,
but the kind that understands
the value of life
and the warmth of a soft purr
at the right moment.
a cat who surrenders power
when asked in the right tone of voice
by someone who means no harm
but is charmed by the aspect
of a cat of a different mind.
