the truth of the rose

0 observations

For my Candy, as expression of my awe and affection.

the truth of the rose

how gently the forge of God must have bent to curl the aspect
of your petals and leaves, a woman like unto a rose, perfect
in all her colour and texture and fragrance, not without thorns
for those incautious and unsuitable suitors to take as horns
into their own flesh and drive them mad with a prick'd pain
for having dared to touch that which was made liar's bane.
for the truth of the rose is in the very nature of its beauty,
and the scent of love arises from within, as each bloom's duty
is to express the very eloquence and elegance of all creation.
and I will stand to love you in prick'd thicket without hesitation.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
