From the poet's book "Love Gods of a Forgotten Religion".
dust. infinite and obstinate.
scuffed into crowding clouds.
proud powder of my passage.
my grandfather walked with me
to see the otherside and yet,
he reached it first, my thirst denied.
for now, for now.
brave friends and those who pretended
to a heart untended and intended
for a more worthy birth.
love, built on trust, crushed and hushed
as we usher out our usual usury,
the sentimental shylock's self-interest.
for now, for now.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.

2 observations:
I'm not really sure why but this brought tears to my eyes. very nice.
It is about loss. Love and loss. My Grandfather took me on a walk a long time ago and just as we were about to crest the hill behind his house, Grandma called us to dinner.
He died the following winter, us having never made it over that hill. Several years later, I took that walk alone, in his honor.
Thank you. Loss is a dominant theme (right behind love and eroticism) in my works.
