lethargy

2 observations

Sheesh, forgot to post a poem today, you think I'd run over somebody's grandmother with a dumptruck.

lethargy

stretch this wretch and give him air,
hair out of control and a soul
that is strangely serene.
cleaning the night out of my beard
in a weird, abstract sense.
a pretense for the tension
that rises with the sun.

I feel the lethargy in the first 3/4 of the poem. It is tangible.

But please explain to me how the last bit is a pretense to the tension of sunrise. How is it tension?

Is it because you are forced to wake up before you are ready? Your lethargy is cut short? I have never associated the sunrise with tension. To me it symbolizes fresh, new beginnings-a positive. I now you can fill in the blank for me.

I so appreciate your writing and feel frustration when I cannot follow all of it. Maybe that's part of the learning process.

This is where resonance comes in, as we take a different attitude, perhaps, as to the day. While I welcome the warmth and light of the sun, the sun also signifies a new day's obligations and deadlines.

Therefore, the sunrise means tension, on some levels and an end to the ability to put things off and just be lethargic.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
