Cody Gibson is one of the creative artists assisting me with the reboot of www.williamfdevault.com and we have been discussing the creative impulse a great deal. Her work is erotically charge, but with a restraint of spirituality and romanticism that peeks through. On challenge, I wrote a work about the person I see behind the work.
for Cody
Eye of an angel
heart of a saint
crossing to feral
to surrender a taint
and a wink and a nod to a forgiving God
who knew when created that she would be fated
to seek her expression in an artist's obsession
and recognize beauty as a burden and duty
to draw out desire with her own gentle fire
that burns as it turns
hearts to her spirit drinking
all the while thinking
what it would be like to touch
something, someone so much
like a kiss of a spirit
or the flesh that lays near it.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
