My friend, the Ukrainian photographer (she doesn't consider herself a model, except out of necessity) Mariya, has hair. A mane of it that is stunning by its sheer mass and volume. If you have looked at the shot of her I used on williamfdevault.com for The Arms of the Dragon (yes, that is her and that is her real hair), you'll see what I mean.
And as she loves to throw it around in her shots, I am amazed the poor thing doesn't have whiplash.
For the latest Fields of Arbol work, she showed me a shot she had just taken yesterday, looking for all the world like she was about to crack the whip with her hair and I knew I had to comment on it, poetically...
hair power
Like Rapunzel in reverse,
you curse the wind
and have sinned against all the lesser lovelies,
their chemically-twisted,
misted masses trashed
and crashed while you let down your hair
and it rises to the occasion,
a banner of beauty
and tender care that fills the air
with the dreams of mortal men,
wishing to wake in the tangle of your jungle.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
