Brazilian artist LiZa Lorraine gave me a start with a lovely and simple work, adapted from a photo by Christiana, about not being able to fall asleep. I have had a few bouts with that in recent months, and the work spoke to me, so I decided to do my poetic impression of her work for my Fields of Arbol project, entitled
Insomnia
eyes closed against the darkness
seems rather redundant, but everything
is a distraction. sandman is losing traction
as he tries to climb the mountains
of hadeda thoughts that are fluttering
and screeching and pecking at me
as my arm falls asleep before I do
and I lay there, thinking of things
I wouldn't think of if I were with you.
tonight.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
