Inspired by a beautiful friend

0 observations

I didn't have a good title for this one, until I realized that the opening phrase to my intro to it was perfect as it was.

Inspired by a beautiful friend

I would please you in word, in thought, in deed,
giving life and light to you, on which you may feed
like a flower uncommon, unique to my sphere,
perfect and earnest, with a fragrance so dear
that it wakes me and takes me far from the dread
of the sorrows of angels, who on anguish have fed,
and the cold blooded cowards who stumble and whine
when about them is beauty, in the spirits that shine
with the dream of a lover that they cannot yet grasp
is the dew on the clover, not the bite of an asp.
But the sharp stones we've tread on remind us that pain
is too often companion to the moments we gain
that are worth the deep bruises and scars we acquire
on the road to redemption in the heat of desire.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
