I would have written you a love poem

0 observations

I would have written you a love poem
but the words are wasted, they've been cut and pasted
a billion time before, I want something more
than what I can put into a metaphor or word
to just be soon forgot, more than a fleeting thought
that will one day be mocked, called absurd
when you move on, are called to prove on another stage
that you can still burn, that the Catherine Wheels turn
when you need them to, fire that shadows your couer rage.
And I don't want to be another disquieting memory.
No, that's not nearly good enough for me.

People asked me if I wrote something for Valentine's Day. Well, not until now. Don't be put off by the seeming darkness of the piece. It's not dark. It's about someone looking to say more than words alone can frame. Any dolt can yell "I love you" from the highest steeple...but, people, yelling a lie doesn't make it true.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
