Were that I were God
to be able to hold you
in the palm of my hand
as you slept
dreaming of things I would only see
through your eyes and life.
To protect you from skinned knees
and the inevitable broken hearts.
To send the cooling breeze
on a hot summer's day
and to smile, invisible,
as you go on your way
content in the knowledge
that if I were God, you'd never
skin a knee, unless you wanted to.
and the angels would accept
that I love you above all creation.

This was inspired by a beautiful composition the artist in question did of herself, coiled up and resting, in the palm of a giant hand. I'd reproduce the photo here, but Mariya is quite obviously quite nude in the shot, and we're trying to not go too far "there".

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
