the obvious dawn

0 observations

I was there for comfort,
to reassure your doubt
if someone could really love you,
despite all you were about.
about all the fading promises
you'd made yourself to fill,
all those bright Arcadian visions
that seemed just on the next hill.

I was there for comfort.
I was there for peace.
And when the mood was on you,
I was there for passion's feast.
But never there for reasons
that I hoped you were there for,
in time I took my coat and hat
and left the memories on the floor.

I was there because you were lost
and needing hope, and light.
I was there just for the evening
then it went on through the night.
Nothing more and nothing less
than a plush toy or a pawn,
and should have seen the light of day
well before the obvious dawn.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
