the curiosity of crimson things

3 observations

there is a shadow of red that covers me
and swallows me up in the night.
blood in a thousand forms that each blossom
like sprigged mistletoe, parasitic and beautiful.

I am darker now than I have ever been,
I just hold tighter the leash I dare not slip
that I might not trip into the darkness, howling
like a feral beast on track for a fleeing meal.

the smell of you is perfume and provocative.
I am sane here only by restraint and practice.
I will trade my cool white for your warm red and draw
my nourishment from you in tender atrocities.

Powerful lines! But how are you traveling & writing on your blog?
Your book release is imminent! Where will you be on the 19th?

I did post a comment earlier, as well.
About how powerful your lines are, but my comments seem to disappear!

Because of spam and vandal comments, I had to go to system where I approve comments and if I don;t check often enough, sometimes they just sit in the bin for hours (or days). My apologies.

I will be in Washington, DC on the 19th when the book is released.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
