can you see me come
slipping out of shadows, near,
trading white for red
playing on an ancient fear
seeking out your life
to feed upon in crimson taste
violating flesh
to find your passions now displaced
hunger for your veins
pain that reigns and stains with red
wanting more than food
a mating dance in dying bed
shall I take it all
leave you hollow and in death
or shall I share my taste
before you breathe your final breath
feel your waking sigh
when you know you will endure
as my paramour
with hunger for you, sharp and sure

Yes, I know that vampire eroticism is in again this year...but this piece, which was a sensation over at DeviantArt.com after my friend Armene highlighted it for her entry in the inspiration contest, has its own origins far before there was Anne Rice or the Twilight books and films (and let us not forget the most excellent True Blood).

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
