hiding behind shutters
crying in the gutters
the lone trouveur sings soft,
lofty, alone and true
lovers fading to time
and the elevation
of new, purer muses
to their proper places
faces, traces of touch
clarified when uttered
in the pure speak of love;
desire, fire and faith
courtesan and priestess
his lover swears her heart
in this consecration
he is reborn to life
fairer than the selkies
sweeter than ambrosia
her kisses bind him here
to sing of her alone
moments into hours
hours into the days
that mark and make the years
confessed and blessed, the test
immortality tastes
like her kiss, her lips ripe
and her body a vessel
for her earnest passion
the words flow like flowers
in a spring sacrament
thrown into the river
to flow beyond these lands
imagination served
in distant lands as songs
commit to memory
and she is eternal
hiding behind shutters
crying in the gutters
the lone trouveur sings soft,
lofty, alone and true

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
