The poet wrote this to an old acquaintance from high school whom he'd always had a crush on, encountering her years later and finding her even more interesting and attractive with the passage of time. Alas, she was already committed to another.

suddenly you've been promoted to about the speed of light.
a bright, brisant spark that hearkens memories
buried like the old yearbook you didn't sign
as I was too shy and in awe
of the all-too-perfect incarnation
of whatever of the muses domained dance.
avatars are not meant to be touched.
but thought upon
quite oft
and remembered soft
with a pleasant smile of fond recall.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
