Written as a reflection on his life's experiences in arc related to his two periods living in California, one an exile from his children wrought by the whole Panther madness, the other the keeping of a promise to she who proved ultimately to be a faithless lover, the poet examined the feel, the emotional texture, of his life.
on the Ocean's edge
as the sundrops slide
into the whiting glare of the Pacific
I am lost
in my reveries.
my soul's disease
that has cost
everything but hope, and the epic
has not yet run to hide
from the legions yet on the flow.
the gathering hell is holding,
that I may not live to see,
but must brace for.
as I pace the floor
and wait for a moment's key
I should be already holding,
considering all I already know.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
