dance of darkness

A piece with some history to it, but the details of which are obscure...even to me.

dance of darkness

I would not kiss you in the silence of light
for fear that the demons would mock me
and trade your place for another less precious
or my hands would reach and find nothing
nothing that I want as much as the darkness
not without you
but within you
where I will find my chaos
and my peace
the release of fire
and the warmth of cold complexity
drawing me in
and down
and through
to the other side
where maybe you are waiting
with a fragile faced smile
or maybe
a laugh of mockery
if I do not find
the shadow'd hall
where you wait
within
and without me
for the moment.
