a patient, passionate heart
I will sit here, with her, until moments bleed away
and she rises from her bed on legs strong with will
driven by steam and a grim gaiety, to sway
notions fates will relate later as proof that still
there is freedom to rise, even against the wind
and a power in love and hope that breaks the chain
of prejudice in all things found brittle when pinned
to the punishing stone. for I was told "remain".

The tags may confuse some, but if you look up the first two references in my poetry, and the third, a film...this poem has much subtext.
Candy, I am here until the flesh is charred from my bones and the sky no longer holds heat and the earth is dried to a cinder. I'd like you to stick around, if that is your desire. My course is set.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
