sacrament: february 20

0 observations

The line uttered by Shelby in "Steel Magnolias" is a favourite of mine: "I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special." Long distance relationships carry a certain brutality to them.

sacrament: february 20

thirty minutes wonderful
a week or two in a year
kiss from an earnest lover
the truth contained in a tear

all I want is surrender
all I offer is my all
lives are lived on less beauty
waiting for the dreams to fall

justice is not for lovers
stealing feasts inside a sip
taken from a cup of joy
passing from touch to my lip

And yes, I would rather have those thirty minutes.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
