Those of you who have known me the longest will respect the depth of this work and its meaning. The rest of you, be assured it is positive and strong.
quintessence
better an ounce of the fifth stuff
than a world of lesser substance.
bartering handfuls of dirt for a single diamond
will only work on a man needing to farm
and I am not that hungry anymore,
for I have smelled the crisp bacon praise
in your laugh when I tell you I love you
and felt the warmth of your passion
radiant across more than an ocean
of time and tears and hopes and fears
I will swim, if I must, to reach the dust
where I will lay my head and heart
at the end of all things, next to an ounce
of the fifth stuff, your soul. immortal.
better an ounce of the fifth stuff
than anymore lies to my heart.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
