I want to see you spread your wings

1 observations

To a friend who is breaking free of their constraints and finding the infinity that is within us all.

I want to see you spread your wings

I want to watch the sun that rises when your eyes have opened wide
to the beauty and the fire that you've held too long inside,
cutting corner from a circle, making much of shallow things,
I want to know the real has risen, I want to see you spread your wings.

Open up to all that's coming and release the terrible light
that has twisted in your belly as it sought to feed you night
as it bled you and left for dead you and your dream and all it brings.
I want to feel the wind you ride on, I want to see you spread your wings.

Don't look to me for inspiration, I am just another chain
that has tethered you and weathered you with the memory of your pain,
you need to find that mountaintop where the helpless harpy sings.
And take back all that was the fall. I want to see you spread your wings.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
