Let the Heavens Fall

0 observations

Something new. And, no, the final word in the second stanza is not a typo. And I respectfully decline to give the inspiration.

Let the Heavens fall

call
call my name
and see if your preconceived notions of my character
are anything but presumption based on shadows.
shadows I do not subscribe to, never wet,
never whetted my appetites upon before dawn
blew me back into the box you locked me in.

call
call my name
and let the Heavens fall when the walls between us
bend and break like spun sugar illusions of glass
made to sustain the falsehood just long enough
that we flee in fear rather than launch ourselves
into the air to prove the mettle of our amour.

call
call my name
and see if tame beasts can stand long in the fire
that they have been taught to fear and not go near
because someone once burnt a whisker off and decided
that a heart divided is better than an ounce of presence,
poured into an infinite ocean of life and love and hope.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
