Inspired not by a single photo or illustration by my friends, but a series of comments I have read over the last few days, where people are applying their own vision to the works of artists, not trying to hear what is being said.
crimson and scarlet
crimson and scarlet.
demon and harlot.
just the colours we observe
then label that we might serve
our own pale prejudices
with a logic that misses
the point of the palette.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.

3 observations:
a "series of comments" from ?!?!?!?!
The comments were not aimed at me (oh, one or two) but targeted towards people I have encountered on any of several art and photography sites. Usually young artists and photographers just wanting some constructive guidance or a pat on the back for what they have done.
The poor kids get shellacked by people who want to jump up and down at the thinnest pretense.
The web provides a masque to those who use it thus, and some abuse that by behaving in ways contrary to their normal public conduct (at least I hope they don;t behave this way in public, they would be spending the night in jail).
I must spend an hour a day visiting with other people on the web, letting them know that there is value to their efforts and advantage to persevering, and telling them to, while developing their creative voice, to take most criticism with a grain of salt.
Where is the line drawn between respecting an artists vision in his work and using your own interpretation for emotional resonance?
