Surprised I skipped my birthday here? Hey, I have a lot going on. Too much, to some people's thinking. Nevertheless, we'll get back to normal in a day or two, but in the interim, let me give you my official birthday poem for this year.
let us run
let us run while we can.
up. up. up the winding and steep roads
that take us swiftly to the aeries of hope
where accomplishments are measured in the moments
where we connect with God and resurrect our faith
that nothing is impossible if you are willing the leap
from the highest cliffs with nothing more than trust
that the good guys win in the end and that love
is not just a word to use to get what we want.
let us run while we can.
limbs pumping blood pumping power to our course.
outracing despair and the debasement of the grey,
burning blue and white and red and black to heat
the sky so that others may find the thermals
we unleash with our dare and care and share of kiss
and word and touch and prayer and eloquence.
the pain of progress serving notice to us we live
and have not given up just because the run is too hard.
let us run while we can.
smile when we can. spread the words we have heard
when we let others speak their mind and peace even
when we know they are lying without malice, from thirst
for a taste of something they only found in illusions,
fled and bled and said in the plagiarism of passion
when the mantras of merging purge us of reason,
seeking a season that lays sleeping beneath snows
we shall melt with the fire of our tread. let us run.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
