get up and dance

0 observations

get up and dance
even if I am miles away
because it makes me smile
to think of your eyes laughing
and the way you move in space
when you remember yourself (and me).

get up and dance
and I will be just down the hall
and a few thousand miles out the door
but the floor feels the electricity
from your feet to mine
because I want to dance with you tonight.

get up and dance
and no one needs to know we're together
as they roll their eyes at the sound
of you dancing alone (if only they knew)
and the song I wrote for you is playing,
laying yet more tendrils that touch us both.

get up and dance
because Freud was right and the night is young
but you are too far away for the direct approach
so I have to make the best with the picture
of you, smiling as you imagine me there
my hands on your hips and my lips on yours.

    Explaining the Tags

You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.

These largely fall into 4 categories:

    Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
    Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
    Genre, e.g. "erotica"

We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.
