Something new, but born of a memory from a bit back. The dam seems to have burst and I am bleeding out neglected thoughts.
gypsy, rising
did you walk away, walk away, walk away.
or was it more of a dance?
steps planned in advance
the opportunity for a few quick spins
around the floor before
before you found the rationale
to walk away
leaving questions answered in words
that seemed incongruous to what you said
with lips and hips and the slip
that caught you
almost by surprise.
but you would not tell me lies
as you lay there, not sure if you were hungry
but sure that this dance
would be remembered
for what it was. and what it wasn't.
and you left the patchwork skirt
on the bed as you fled
to be woven into the stuff of legends.

Explaining the Tags
You will note, gentle reader, that all works under this blog now display "tags" to help classify and assign the works for your review and enjoyment.
These largely fall into 4 categories:
Year of writing, e.g. "1999"
Book published in, e.g. "from an unexpected quarter"
Inspiring muse, e.g. "Aubergine"
Genre, e.g. "erotica"
We are still in the process of cleaning up the tags, so please bear with us. Yes, some muses are classified under more than one tag, some poems appear in more than one book, or not yet in any volume, and some years are...hazy.

2 observations:
why on earth would she walk away?
Depends on who you ask. Mostly I was married to Los Angeles, she to Alabama...plus, if you have ever read my poem "empaths should not touch", you'll understand. We are of a different vibe than most, and when you combine two of our breed, it gets rather insane.
In a nice way, but insane.
